When you get, give. When you learn, teach.
– Maya Angelou –
My name is Carin and I live in Stockholm but grew up outside of Hudiksvall (mid/north Sweden). I was born somewhat of an over achiever, not like I was great in school and became a lawyer or a doctor or anything fancy like that 😉 More of an emotional over achiever that tried to be there for everyone but myself.
As a 2-year old when my brother was born, right away he was “mine” to attend to (in my eyes, not my mothers) and when I as 6-year old and got the news of my parents divorce my instinctive thought was to take care of my dad (the one out of the two I felt needed the most attention at the time)… and so on and so on. That’s pretty much how it keep on and I valued myself out of what I could do for others and if they needed me or not.
As I bent over backwards to be enough for others I had no time to attend to myself, and definitely didn’t think I was worth it either. Always on the hunt for love and acceptance, the feeling of being good enough as I am.
Sadly it took a few serious relationships (and two divorces) before I opened my eyes. I saw how far I was willing to go for somebody else’s acceptance and love, and realized how it would never be enough anyways. No matter how wonderful HE was, how much HE gave – it wasn’t what I was looking for. In that moment all the years of counseling, coaching, education and healing (etc) fell into place. I was looking for me.
Up until then I had successfully helped others but it was theoretical knowledge until it aligned within me. I needed to support and love myself through this journey of life (mistakes and all).
In my escape through the years I keep several jobs in order to not have the time to stop and think, I suppressed feelings with alcohol, cigarettes, relationships.. most of what was available besides listening to my own feelings and needs always felt more important. All leading me to feelings of shame, anxiety and unworthiness.
So, how can someone with a messy background like myself advise anyone on topics such as; nutrition, health, life coaching and relationships? Well, I’ve walked the walk for starters but I also have extensive theoretical knowledge accompanied by a lot of trial and error, this, and the experience I have of helping others, all give me solid ground to work from. I’m constantly evolving, studying and keeping myself “clean” (with meditation, counseling etc.) to maintain my professionality.
All the services I offer is about evolving and forward motion, both for private clients and companies.
The supervision I offer is for groups that work with in psycho social work and is about processes, – what happens to people in the work with other people and hoe they within their work can find strategies to do the best job possible.
